Somewhere, NYC tells the story of a different area of the city every day. It grew out an experiment I was doing with geofencing, IFTTT and Instagram. I used an IFTTT algorithm to pull all Instagram photos geotagged in Times Square, which yielded over a hundred within an hour. I had to turn it off, because of all the notifications! When I looked at all of the photos though, I realized that the collective story of an area—with all of the people passing through and events happening in it— is one that we rarely consider. It’s a project that aims to show us all of the beautiful stories happening in the world’s greatest city.
